About

Hyperadapted is the creative alias of Julian Hilgemann. By day I build data platforms: the systems that compress the world into numbers someone can act on. Hyperadapted runs that pipeline the other way. A measurement, a song or an idea goes in, and what comes out is meant to be felt before it is read: an essay, an audiovisual sketch, a piece of music. This site gathers all of it and points to the channels where each piece lives.

What lives here

  • Writing. Essays and letters on perception, data and making things. Longer thoughts, published on Medium and Substack and collected here. Medium Substack
  • Audiovisual. Datasketches: short pieces where data drives the picture. A song measured frame by frame, then opened back up into light and motion in Blender and TouchDesigner. YouTube Instagram
  • Music. Where it started: audio engineering and production in Ableton Live. Tracks and sound pieces, released alongside the visuals they drive. YouTube SoundCloud

Why Hyperadapted

We don't see the world. We see our best current guess about it, and the guess keeps adapting to whatever arrives next.

Hyperadapted is that loop turned up: work that takes its shape from its input, a dataset, a track, a day, and wears it openly instead of smoothing it away.

The other half

julianhilgemann.com is where the same pipeline runs forwards: data platforms, models and the numbers they produce. Compression to navigate there, expansion to express here.
