Datasketches

Short audiovisual pieces where data drives the picture: a song measured frame by frame, then opened back up into light and motion.

A dashboard compresses the world into a number. A datasketch runs that pipeline backwards: it takes a measurement and opens it back up into something you can see and hear.

How a sketch is made

The input can be a song, a time series or anything else that changes over time. It is measured frame by frame (loudness, frequency bands, onsets, trends), and each of those values is wired to something visual: the colour of a field, the speed of a camera, the brightness of a light. The pieces are built in Blender and TouchDesigner and rendered as finished clips.

Where they live

Finished sketches are published on YouTube, and stills and loops from the work in progress go to Instagram.

This is a placeholder post. It holds the layout until the first real piece arrives.
