Notes on sound
Where it started: audio engineering, production in Ableton Live, and the mathematics that came back years later.
Before any of the data work there was sound: audio engineering and digital music production in Ableton Live. Sampling, filters, EQ and compression were the first signal processing.
The same mathematics came back later in time series econometrics, where a moving average is a low-pass filter and a business cycle is a frequency band. Same mathematics, different signal.
The last bar of the chart is the first bar of the track.
